Kayla's Broken Arm

While Kayla was trying to get off a trampoline Monday night someone jumped next to her and sent her sailing into the air, she did a flip and landed on the ground.  As I went to check her out I noticed her holding her arm.   I could immediately tell it was broken.

Mike took her to the doctor and got X-rays.  Both bones in the lower part of her arm were broken.  They sent him to the hospital to see an Orthopedist to have them take a look at it.  They weren't able to fix it that night because of the swelling so they put a splint and a sling on and sent her home.  She was such a trooper and took it all so well.
Here she is icing it.
 Little show off.
All I could get onto her was her bikini top!  Luckily it was a sunny day.  She even made it to soccer with us.
 Taking it very well.
This morning we were able to get her cast on.  I took her in to the Orthopedist and he set it.  Poor girl, they didn't give her any sort of pain meds before they started!  It took a bit for him to set it and then for him to get the cast on, which he had to squeeze onto her arm while it hardened.  It was one of my hardest parenting moments yet.   I held her while he did it all, she was so good for all of it.  She cried a lot but never once tried to get away or kick at him or anything else.  She even thanked him after it was all done.
And would it be any other color than blue?  She is very proud of it.  She has been playing happily ever since.

Aiden's First Days of School

Aiden started Kindergarten last week!  I can't believe how fast time has flown with him.  He was so excited to be starting school!  He did great.  He had his first 45 minute day on Tuesday and did great.  He had so much fun, loved his teacher and made a few new friends.
 My little goof ball.
 Waiting for the bus.
He was so excited to be riding the school bus.  We went out to wait for it 10 minutes early, then the bus was 15 minutes late.  Luckily for us it was a nice sunny morning.
Very proud and waiting. . .

A BIG hug for his sister.
Off he went. . .  I was NOT going to be 'that mom'. . .  I ended up being her.  Mike came home from work to watch him and caught me.  I am not the Mom that cries about letting go, but there he went, onto the school bus and didn't even wave out the window at me!  I couldn't believe it!

He had such a great time at school.  He starts full days this week.  I'm a bit sad, they are going to be long days while we are getting used to it.
